Rwanda & Uganda - This safari is for those wishing to experience the Endangered Mountain Gorillas and Habituated Chimpanzees in Uganda and Rwanda. 

DAY 1 Arrival into Entebbe airport in Uganda and meet with your driver/guide. Transfer to Kampala camp or lodge for overnight.

DAY 2 Journey to Kibale Forest with scenic views along the way as you pass through tea plantations and rich countryside. Lunch in Fort Portal and visit the market. Enjoy the late afternoon at the lodge in the forest. Dinner and overnight. (B,D)

DAY 3  Your first day of Chimpanzee tracking or choose optional activity of Chimpanzee Habituation Day. Return to lodge or camp for dinner and overnight. (B,L,D)

DAY 4  Breakfast and relax for a bit of the morning before departing for Queen Elizabeth National Park. Lunch in Fort Portal along the way. Game drive in Queen Elizabeth for the afternoon. Overnight on the shores of Lake George.  (B,D)

DAY 5 Early morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth. Lunch and choose from a variety of daily activities; boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, Lion predator tracking, Hot Air Balloon Safari, Kyambura Gorge. (B,L,D)

DAY 6 Today you will drive to Kisoro, close to the borders of Rwanda and DR of Congo. Cross a beautiful part of the country often refereed to the "Switzerland of Africa" with great views of the Virunga Mountains. Lunch at a local restaurant along the way. Arrive Lake Mutanda for dinner and overnight and spectacular views of the small islands, lake and misty volcanoes. Early to bed for your first gorilla trekking experience the following morning. DAY 7 Rise before sunrise, breakfast and depart for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for your Gorilla Trekking experience with the gentle giants. Following the trek return to camp or lodge for dinner and overnight.  (B,L,D)

DAY 8 Depart for Kigali following breakfast, crossing the border from Uganda into the land of 1000 hills. Visit the local markets and overnight in Kigali. (B)

DAY 9 On wards to Nyungwe Forest, one of the largest forests in East and Central Africa and know for its wide variety of primates. Lunch in Butare and continue to the forest. Overnight on top of a small hill overlooking Lake Kivu. (B,D)

Day 10 Very early morning start, around 4:30am, proceed for your second chimp tracking expedition. Relax at the lodge following the trek or enjoy East Africa's only Canopy Walk. Dinner and overnight at your lodge. (B,L,D)

DAY 11 After a relaxed breakfast travel to Kibuye which is a town found on the shores of Lake Kivu. Lunch at your lodge followed by leisure activities in the afternoon; visit Hdaba Falls or walk around Kibuye town. Dinner and overnight at your lodge. (B,L,D)

DAY 12 Continue your journey to Volcanoes National Park for your second gorilla trekking experience. For some of the best views in Rwanda have Amanda book you into the Virugna Lodge. For those with a stricter budget, Amanda recommends Mountain Gorilla View Lodge. (B,D)

Day 13 Another early morning start, but so worth it! Today you will spend another hour with the majestic mountain gorillas. Return to your lodge following the gorilla trek. (B,L,D)

Day 14 Breakfast and depart for Kigali. Visit the Genocide Museum followed by drop off at international airport in Kigali. (B)
